What We Do
Like all U3As, we are what our members want us to be. If you are
retired or not in full time employment and want to take up new or neglected interests, U3A is probably what you are looking for.
Hessle U3A has more than 190 members and has thirty interest groups. A monthly meeting of Hessle U3A is held on the first Friday of each month at All Saints Church Hall, The Square, Hessle at 2pm. There is no monthly meeting in August and December.
Members pay an annual subscription of £10. They also contribute £1 to help defray the cost of each of the meetings held in public halls.
Most of our groups meet in rooms at church halls or Hessle Town Hall. Smaller groups meet at members’ homes. A few of our groups meet in the great outdoors.
The Third Age Trust is the parent body for U3As in the UK. The Trust provides help and advice as well as information and resources. You will find a link to the web site of the Trust in our Links section. As a member of Hessle U3A you would receive a free copy of Third Age Matters, the Trust’s quarterly magazine.
The Humber Accord is an informal association of several U3As in the East Riding of Yorkshire. At present, Awake (Anlaby, Willerby and Kirkella), Beverley, Caves, Cottingham, Hornsea, Howden, Swanland and Hessle U3As comprise the Humber Accord. One of the benefits of this association is that members of one U3A may join an interest group of another U3A in the Accord, provided that the interest group has room for more members.
